I love this publication. See it online here or alternatively bung them a quid and they’ll post a real issue to you. One of the highlights in this issue is an article by David Graeber on the phenomena of bullshit jobs. Read it here and there’s a response from The Economist below.
It’s an interesting perspective on how we could have a 4 hour working day or less if only people weren’t forced to do things that nobody needs doing. There seems to be a whole industry these days for monitoring how people do things and then monitoring the monitors. And yet we’re told the private sector is the standard bearer with regards to efficiency!
That’s just one great article in amongst a fantastic line up.
