Tonight Class War celebrated May Day by getting onto the streets and giving the police the runaround in central London. The events started at One Commercial Street for a special Poor Doors demo and culminated in a spontaneous march with a thousand people across Tower Bridge, London Bridge and into Soho.
Class War chose to unfurl the most dangerous banner in Britain – it had been confiscated by police but now it’s back with just days to go until the general election.
Below are some pictures from the event followed by video clips.
Just before heading off on the spontaneous demonstration it looked like the police would be joining in the party.
Later as we marched through Southwark we came to the council offices. Southwark is only interested in money and not its citizens so it wasn’t long before the Aylsebury Estate banner was up against the office window and the police piled in with force.
One protester tried to run away but was caught by police and taken down.
The police violence is summarised nicely in this video.
With 5 days to go until the election Class War has livened up the campaign and used direct action wherever possible.
