Support the Right to Protest: Support Lisa McKenzie

Lisa was arrested by Bethnal Green police on 2 April for allegedly putting a sticker on a window at One Commercial Street and holding up a poster of a graveyard with the slogan “We have found homes for the rich” – a poster that has been around for over 30 years. One Commercial Street has ‘Poor Doors’ a trend in the capital’s upmarket apartment blocks which are required to include affordable homes in order to win planning permission. The poorer residents are forced to use a separate door at the back.

Lisa is a tireless campaigner for victims of austerity and the charges that she faces are that the owner of the poor doors building felt threatened and intimidated by the use of the poster. It’s a classic example of the wealthiest in society and the cops working togetehr to close down dissent.

You can donate to Lisa’s legal fund here. Here’s a reminder of what happened on the night she was arrested.
