One of the things I love about the history of motor racing is the style of the art deco posters that used to be used to advertise events. I’ve been collecting some for a while now, particularly from Le Mans and Monaco.
Today I noticed that in the run up to the first Formula E finale the championship has launched an old school art deco poster of it’s own which is available for purchase. Racing in Battersea the design understandably uses the iconic power station as a backdrop.
The style of such posters evokes the ideal of the pioneering days of motorsport. Days that are truly back with us and Formula E, with it’s all electric power status represents a branch of the sport that has a good opportunity of growing in the years to come and being relevant to our chances of making the motor car a more efficient machine.
